Art Classes

The five cliff side villages of Cinque Terre comprise a region of sheer rocky coastline in northern Italy, with terraced hills and vineyards sloping steeply down to the sea. Five little villages are built into the rocks between the beach and the hills. Centuries old footpaths and mule tracks wind about 500 to 1,000 feet above the sea, leading through olive groves and vineyards, orchards and chestnut woods.
Each village has its own character. They are a few minutes apart by train. Some of the villages have very easy walks between them, beautiful beyond description. Others have arduous paths that require extremely good physical condition in order to traverse them. If you have trouble walking up steep inclines, this trip is not for you. There are almost no cars as the villages are not easily accessible by road, but trains and boats access each village continuously throughout the day.

Sharon Serrago has been painting since childhood at the side of her mother, who was also an artist. She has studied with many renowned artists such as Jane Jones, Miles Batt, Fran Larson, Ken Hosmer, Nita Leland, Arnold Lowrey, Ann Templeton, and many others.

In all her classes, Sharon focuses on color and design theory. She approaches all her teaching with the belief that anyone can learn to paint.

While a large number of her paintings are displayed at her gallery in Dallas, many others are at her studio in Richardson, TX, where she holds weekly classes. Her studio is located at 850 N. Dorothy Dr., Suite 502. The studio is conveniently located near Central Expressway and Arapaho. From Central Exp., go east on Arapaho 1 block past Greenville. Turn south (right) on Dorothy Dr. The office complex is approx. 2 blocks from Arapaho. You will see the offices on the left. A residential section is on the right. The studio is on the corner, Suite 502.

Sharon takes beginners as well as advanced students. Beginners' class is on Wednesday evenings. While each session is structured on a 6-week basis, students may enter at any time.

 Beginner's Watercolor Classes

                       Wednesday Evenings, 6:00 - 9:00

                                No experience necessary.

Students of all levels may enter classes; no experience is required in the beginner's class. Beginning students may require more attention in the basics of handling the medium, while more advanced students will require more attention during critiques regarding design and color theory.

Sharon  presents each class with a particular assignment, consistently focusing on design and color theory. Each class begins with a critique of students' past work with suggestions for improvement. Problem solving is a regular part of instruction.

Demonstrations are an important aspect of each class. Sharon demonstrates techniques used in the assignment and walks students through the painting process as they begin work on their own paintings.

Classes at Sharon's studio follow a structure of 6-week sessions. This provides an easy entrance and exit date for those students who do not wish to study on a continual basis. Each 6-week series is $120.00.
