Sharon teaches watercolor class on Monday evenings and Tuesday mornings at her studio in Richardson, Tx. The upcoming classes will be heavily oriented toward art theory. We will study design and color theory in order to discover what works and what doesn't in creating successful paintings. Demonstrations and critiques are part of every class. Printed materials with several examples will be given to students to assist in their understanding of the presented concepts. Beginners are welcome to come to these classes. |

One of the most difficult decisions we have to make about our paintings is how to organize it. For that purpose we turn to various structuring devices. While most artists know about the cruciform structure and frame-in-frame, in this class we will study many more to facilitate the best way to arrange and organize subjects in our paintings. We will produce smaller studies of various structures to determine which device will produce the best layout for our painting. Then we will will paint a larger version from the studies we have produced. Students will work from photos or drawings of choice. |

Color is one of the most important aspects in a painting and often the most difficult to use effectively. This class will focus on the varied color schemes that make paintings successful. We will make small studies of many color schemes for a thorough understanding of color and then apply those schemes to our larger paintings. |

A continuation of the study of color, this class will focus on the seven different color contrasts and will emphasize one of those contrasts each week in a larger painting. These sessions are heavily oriented around the technical aspects of color theory, what works, what doesn't, and how to achieve the effects you want with color. |
